Just Like Magic Holiday Giving
Remember when you were a child and there was a special wish you had for Christmas?
As a member of One Detroit Credit Union, you can share some magic of your own! 1DCU Gives is on a special mission this year to make Christmas wishes come true for children in Detroit who would not otherwise be able to experience the holiday. When you donate to our 1DCU Gives campaign, you help a child less fortunate have a happy holiday.
How It Works
- Parents will be able to complete an online application with basic information including the opportunity to share their “why.” They will also have an opportuity to upload a photo of their child’s letter to Santa.
- To be eligible, gift recipients must be a Detroit resident and have experienced a financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Winners will be announced on the One Detroit Credit Union Facebook page the week of December 21, 2020. *Please note nominations are now closed.*
- *Extended* Donations will be accepted in all 1DCU branches through December 23, 2020.
- Deliveries will be COVID-19 safe. Volunteers will wear masks during delivery and will not enter any homes.
We understand the current financial limitations many people are facing during the pandemic, coupled with a struggling economy. A donation of any amount is greatly appreciated and will be used to create magical memories for children in need.
Help us spread a little holiday cheer and make Christmas wishes come true!

The number of children chosen to receive gifts will be based on the total dollar amount of donations collected. Not all items on the child’s list will be purchased. Families will be chosen by a selection committee, giving special consideration for financial hardships.
2019 Gifts of Hope
Our 2019 holiday giving campaign, Gifts of Hope, raised $4,745.92 for local charities including the Michigan Veterans Foundation, Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO), The NOAH Project, and Genesis House II (part of Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries). The generosity of our members and staff allowed us to pack and deliver hundreds of personal care kits, blankets and gifts to help these important community organizations.
